Mason Greenwood Has Already Scored More Goals For United Than Alexis Sanchez
Mason Greenwood’s name was on the lips of nearly every fan as Manchester United completed a thoroughly impressive 4-0 victory over AZ in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday.
The 18-year-old academy graduate netted twice during the encounter, aiding the efforts of Ashley Young and Juan Mata’s penalty.
Multiple names were in praise of the teenager including Mata himself, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Marcus Rashford who was an unused substitute on the bench.
The night’s brace set many records for the teenager who became the first Manchester United player since Wayne Rooney to be under the age of 19 and still net 3 goals in a European competition.
This brought his total tally to 6 goals in 9 starts for the Red Devils, immensely promising considering how the season is not even at the halfway mark.
However, perhaps the most shocking comparison of the youngster’s efforts can be seen in the fact that his 6 goals in such a brief period is more than the 5 that Alexis Sanchez mustered in the entirety of his disastrous and immensely expensive stay at Old Trafford.

This is certainly more of a comment on just how woeful the Chilean was for the Red Devils. Despite that, many criticized Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for loaning him out at the start of the season.
The Norwegian had defended that particular decision as well as the sale of Romelu Lukaku, due to Greenwood’s presence as the opportunity would allow the teenager to develop.
This is precisely what has occurred and fans are already eager in anticipation of what else the starlet has in store.
In the Premier League, his cameo appearances leave little opportunity to make an impact while full starts are where he truly flourishes. It is easy to see how he could be a better alternate striker to Anthony Martial than an expensive transfer purchase.
