Jose Mourinho has already scouted £23m winger for Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is planning a £23m move for Domenico Berardi when he takes over as Red Devils’ manager, and the Portuguese has already scouted the Italian striker, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 21-year-old has got seven goals and five assists to his name in 23 appearances for Sassuolo this season, and is being considered as one of the most promising young talents in Italy, with a host of European clubs, including the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, keeping eyes on him.

The Italian international plays for Sassuolo, but Juventus have the option to sign him in the summer for £13m, and the Serie A leaders do seem interested to take him back to Turin next season. However, Transfermarketweb believes Premier League giants Manchester United are also keen for his signature, and could splash as much as £23.3million in order to lure the youngster away from Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Mourinho, who is lined up to replace the under-fire Dutchman Louis van Gaal, will try to sign Berardi immediately after getting the United job.

Domenico Berardi has played 14 times for Italy U21s, and also received his maiden call-up to the senior squad in October, but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
