Twitter Reacts To Ronaldo’s Surprise Substitution Against Las Palmas
It is not often you get to see arguably the best player in the world get substituted twenty minutes before the end of a game, but that is exactly what happened to Cristiano Ronaldo against Las Palmas.
Real Madrid’s talisman was hauled off by manager Zinedine Zidane after 70 minutes, and looked very annoyed and upset with the decision. He trudged off the pitch looking rather enraged with the decision and hardly showed much enthusiasm to his replacement Lucas Vazquez. He didn’t make eye contact with Zidane at all as he walked back to the bench, stretching out a hand halfheartedly for his manager to acknowledge.
However, the decision backfired. Ronaldo was taken off with twenty minutes of the clash still to go, at which point Real were 2-1 up. After the Portuguese forward was taken off, former Barcelona B striker Sergio Araujo scored late into the game to level the scores.
Despite Los Blancos trying to find a winner, Las Palmas held on and the game ended at 2-2, making Zidane look rather silly for taking Ronaldo off. It was also the first time Ronaldo has ever been substituted for tactical reasons during his time at the Bernabeu club.
The draw means Real’s lead at the top of the table was cut down to one point, with second placed Barcelona securing an emphatic 5-0 away win against Sporting de Gijon.
As Ronaldo pulled a sad face as his reaction to being substituted, and twitter erupted at the incident.
Who's going off?? Cristiano Ronaldo that's who.

Zidane has subbed Ronaldo. This is not a drill. Zidane has subbed Ronaldo.

Zidane sub 2 is to shore things up a bit by sending on Lucas Vazquez for Ronaldo… who does not look over happy as he's coming off…

The thing about Ronaldo being subbed is now he's gonna go deadlift a 800 for a week then score a hattrick next game. Not worried.
