Gary Neville Reveals The Turning Point For Conte’s Chelsea

Gary Neville has heaped praise on Chelsea following their explosive start to the season.

Saturday’s 3-1 win against a dangerous Manchester City side at the Etihad lifted Chelsea three points ahead of their nearest challengers Arsenal, and extended their winning streak in the Premier League to eight games as well.

Antonio Conte’s boys have now won eight fixtures in a row, while conceding only two goals in that period.

And Gary Neville believes Chelsea’s 4-0 demolition of Manchester United in October was actually the turning point to the Blues’ season.

“They have delivered in the big games and Antonio Conte will be delighted with his team,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“It was a big moment when they beat Man United. The confidence they would have got from that game was huge. They haven’t looked back from that moment.”

Luck is also with Chelsea, as their five remaining games in December look comparatively favourable.

Chelsea now step into a decent run of fixtures in their hectic Christmas period, with West Brom, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Stoke facing the challenge to stop Conte’s men before the end of the year.

Antonio Conte has insisted in recent weeks that he will not start to evaluate Chelsea’s title chances until he has negotiated the extremely busy Christmas schedule, but the Italian is keen to praise the latest series of convincing Chelsea performances.

Gary Neville has also added that Chelsea cannot afford to lose Eden Hazard or Diego Costa if they are to win the title.

The pair was well below-par last term as Chelsea fell apart in their title defence, but both seem to have rejuvenated under Antonio Conte.

Neville added: “Costa and Hazard have to stay fit, that’s the big thing because the drop in quality behind those two is enormous. They look really up for it. Hazard looks brilliant, Costa looks brilliant and if they can keep those two fit, they are in with a massive chance.”
