Jose Mourinho has no plans of bringing English defender Luke Shaw into the first team, as he directs new criticism at the 21-year old, yet again.

The former Southampton man was the next big thing in English football not so long ago, but he has failed to realize his potential in his time at Old Trafford. He has not been able to win the faith of the new manager, albeit in an injury-prone season, making just two appearances in all competitions since November.

Shaw was expected to be the first choice left-back for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho, but he has made just seven Premier League starts, losing out to the likes of Daley blind, Marcos Rojo, and Matteo Darmian.

The Englishman is finding it hard to make the match day squad, and Mourinho has now revealed that he has little chance of making it anytime soon.

When asked about Shaw and his situation in the squad, Mourinho said that he was a long way behind his teammates, and that he cannot trust the defender to be on the bench yet this season.

Speaking to the media after the game against West Brom, Mourinho told reporters: “Who? Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench.

“Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with (Matteo) Darmian, with (Daley) Blind. I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”

It is understood that the 21-year old has been back to full fitness since January, but Mourinho has insisted on leaving him out of the squad like he did in the 0-0 draw against the Baggies at the weekend.

Do you think Luke Shaw has a future at Old Trafford?
