Manchester United have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League this season, but they have a number of issues with the squad that need to be addressed this summer.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to add some defensive quality to his squad, and is looking at players who can partner Eric Bailly at the back next season. The likes of Michael Keane and Virgil van Dijk are on his radar, but it is now reported that Mourinho may have just completed the ‘transfer of the year’.

According to reports from Spanish news outfit Don Balon, Zinedine Zidane is in search of a top class defender this summer, and is ready to let French defender Raphael Varane quit the club at the end of the season.

The 24-year old, who has bagged more than 100 appearances for Real in his career, has seen a slight dip in form lately, and it is reported that club president Florentino Perez wants Zinedine Zidane to sign another defender.

Though there are not too many options in the transfer market, Real will be ready to offer insane amounts for top transfer targets, and this could see Varane’s time at the Bernabeu come to an end this summer.

The Frenchman has just 19 games to his name this season, but Mourinho is convinced that he is the right man for his back line at Old Trafford. and is ready to break the bank at the end of the season.

According to reports from Don Balon, Real Madrid are ready to sell to suitors who will be able to cough up €60m for his services. This price should not be an issue for United, as they will be spending on a 24-year old who can keep up the mantle for years to come.
