Juventus To Conduct Transfer Talks For Verratti In Monte Carlo
According to the Italian news site Calciomercato, Juventus are desperate to sign Marco Verratti, and are planning to meet with the PSG officials when they visit France to face Monaco in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
The Bianconeri are looking for a top class midfielder, having failed to replace Paul Pogba after his move to Manchester United last summer. They are reportedly willing to spend £68m for Verratti, as they believe the 24-year-old to be the ideal replacement for their midfield.
It is being understood, however, that Juventus aren’t the only side interested in signing Verratti, with Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United also expressing their interest in the star midfielder.
Therefore, Juve intend to get this deal done as soon as possible, and as per reports from Italy, the executives of the Old Lady club will use Wednesday’s trip to Monte Carlo to make their move for the Italian midfielder.
The officials of the Serie A club will apparently meet with Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, who has already stated that he will be in Monaco to watch Leonardo Jardim’s men in action during the Champions League semi-final’s first leg.
Di Campli has also given an update on Verratti’s future, saying that he doesn’t want to rush into any discussions, but he also made it clear that he wants to speak with the club after they have played the Coupe de France final against Angers on May 27.
“I don’t feel like saying anything,” he told Premium Sport. “A lot of wrong things have been said. I want to keep things calm as PSG aren’t in the most happiest of moments. We’ll ask for a meeting with the club to discuss Marco’s future.
“The club have said that Marco won’t leave so we have to respect the will of the club. But we will make a point of the situation after the Coupe de France final.”
It’s been a relatively frustrating campaign for PSG, as they shockingly crashed out of the Champions League in the last 16 stage thanks to Barcelona, and are currently trailing Monaco by three points in Ligue 1.
