Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is planning a move for AS Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva.

According to reports in The Independent, Mourinho has identified Silva as the perfect creative midfielder for his team, and is planning to set up a £60 million bid in order to convince Monaco to sell him.

Silva is only 22, and has incredible potential, and he has been described by many as Monaco’s most important player this season, despite the emergence of 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe and the resurgence of captain Radamel Falcao – who had a failed spell at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal in 2015.

Bernardo Silva’s style of play has drawn repeated comparisons with his namesake, David Silva, who currently plays for United’s cross-town rivals Manchester City.

The report also mentions that Mourinho has been impressed by Silva’s work rate, and is keen on playing him in a wide role at Old Trafford next season.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have already felt the full force of Silva’s abilities, and his performances against two of England’s best teams have ensured that he would be one of Europe’s hottest properties once the summer transfer window begins.

Several top clubs have been monitoring Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko, as well as Benjamin Mendy – United have also been linked with a move for the latter two – and the Ligue 1 club looks set to get raided in the summer.

In total, Silva has managed to start 41 games for Monaco, scoring 8 goals and grabbing 10 assists too.
