Marco Verratti Will Stay At PSG This Summer, Confirms His Agent
Top European clubs have been dealt a huge blow, after it was revealed that Marco Verratti is staying put at Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The Italian midfielder is among the best in the business in his position, if not the best, and has helped PSG to a decent time in the domestic league as well as in Europe.
The Paris outfit, however, is in danger of losing the Ligue 1 title to AS Monaco this season, and it looks like they might have to let a few players leave this summer in order to bring in better reinforcements.
Reports earlier suggested that midfielder Marco Verratti could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season, with a host of clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United interested in his services.
But according to the player’s agent, Di Campli, Verratti is contracted with the French giants till 2021, and will not be quitting the club at the end of the season.
“Marco Verratti will remain at PSG,” Di Campli told reporters. “Marco is happy in Paris, he has a contract until 2021 and he will definitely stay there.”
He further went on to explain that it was important for him and his colleague to respect the desires of his current employers, and revealed that Verratti wants to win the Champions League with the Paris-based club.
“The will of PSG also has to be respected, it’s a club which loves him. We’ll meet the directors, but only to understand the project because the club remains ambitious and wants to win the Champions League,” Di Campli added.
“An offer from Bayern Munich? There might be, but anyone who wants him needs to talk to PSG, not us. Juventus or Inter? They’re not starting on the first or second row of the grid, because there’s no chance of seeing him in Italy.”
This will come as a massive blow to the top European clubs, who were desperate for his signature this summer.
