Ivan Perisic’s agent from the past, Tonci Martic, has revealed that despite serious efforts from Manchester United to acquire the player, the Inter Milan man has better options to go for.

It was understood that United gaffer Jose Mourinho had recently flown to Zagreb in an attempt to woo the Croatian player and put a signature on the deal. Perisic, at the time, was playing for Croatia against Ukraine for their World Cup qualification game.

In fact, the ex-agent has now revealed that Manchester United had indeed submitted a £51m bid to bring the winger at Old Trafford.

However, he further went on to troll Manchester United, by suggesting that despite a hefty bid for the player, the Croatian has much better teams to choose from.

Speaking to the Croatian media outlet Vecernji, Martic stated: “I have no doubts that Inter have a plan to sell Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic this summer.

“Even if there has long been speculation about the €60m [£51m] that Manchester United offered for Perisic, I discovered that Ivan has a better and much more attractive option than Manchester, but it’s all being kept very quiet.

“In that case, perhaps Inter would receive less money for the transfer and Perisic would earn less than United are offering, but he would have a better chance of winning something. In sport, it is important to live in harmony with the best player in the world and win the Champions League.”

Ivan Perisic, who currently plays for Inter Milan, joined the Serie A club from Wolfsburg in 2015. The 28-year-old has played 2 seasons each at Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, and as this transfer deal pans out this summer, then at Internazionale too.

He also has 55 national caps for his team, in which he has scored 16 goals, playing alongside the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Luka Modric, and Mario Mandzukic.

While Manchester United seem unlikely to seal the deal after recent developments, we might still see the player in the Premier League, with both Chelsea and Liverpool interested in the winger.
