Marouane Fellaini Attracts Concrete Interest From Turkey
Marouane Fellaini has been contacted by Turkish club Trabzonspor for a move this summer, claims Turkish News Outlet Takvim.
The big Belgian has been a regular squad member under Jose Mourinho, having made 45 appearances and scored 4 goals for the Red Devils. However, he could be on his way out in the summer nonetheless.
Many reports have surfaced in media, indicating another expensive summer for Manchester United, which would then make Fellaini surplus to requirements.
The midfielder, who has only one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, wouldn’t ideally be allowed to leave for free, as Manchester United prepare to make some money off him this summer. Trabzonspor, a Turkish club, has emerged as one of interested parties, and Jose Mourinho would like to benefit from it.
According to Turkish reports, Muharrem Usta, Trabzonspor’s president, has taken it upon himself to persuade the Belgian international to make the switch. Usta has made direct contact with Fellaini to lure him to the vibrant league of Turkey.
“We are focusing our efforts on signing a midfielder and striker,” Usta was quoted as saying.
“We are looking for players who will improve the team and help fill our new stadium.”
Fellaini was a high profile signing for Manchester United from Everton in the summer of 2013. The former Everton man, who costed a significant sum of £27.5m, has been a divisive figure among the fans since his arrival.
