Bale And Rodriguez To Man Utd Are Very Real Possibilities, Says Spanish Football Expert
Gareth Bale to Manchester United has a ‘very real possibility’ of taking place in the summer transfer window, says Graham Hunter.
Hunter, a Spanish football expert, spoke to talkSPORT‘s Hawksbee and Jacobs show on Tuesday, where he admitted that there is a good chance Bale will decide to leave Real Madrid in the summer.
United manager Jose Mourinho appears to be prioritizing a move for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, but could face a tricky scenario, as Atletico are under a transfer ban and will do everything they can to keep a hold of their French striker.
With Bale having a rather uncomfortable season at the Santiago Bernabeu due to constant injury issues, the club and him might decide to part ways in the summer, and Old Trafford could be his next destination.
“I think Gareth Bale is mulling things over at the moment,” Hunter said.

“Before you look at Griezmann and Manchester United there is a very real opportunity [with Bale]. If Gareth Bale decides to press the button and say to Real Madrid ‘I would like to go home again’ there is a very real possibility of that happening.
“Griezmann is a much trickier subject because the transfer ban Atletico Madrid are suffering at the moment means they can’t buy a replacement and they are moving to a new stadium. It is vital to keep Griezmann.
“There is a possibility that Bale says ‘I am going to cash my chips in, it has been brilliant here, win in Cardiff [the Champions League final] and maybe Manchester United this summer.’ Maybe.”
Hunter also added that he is certain James Rodriguez will be leaving Los Blancos in the summer, and that the Colombian is destined for Manchester United.
Rodriguez is struggling for game time at the Bernabeu, and with Mourinho desperate to add some world-class quality and creativity into his squad, a move for the 25-year-old could very much be on the cards.
“Real Madrid want to sell, his price is gettable by Manchester United and they want a world star,” added Hunter. “It fits for Manchester United and I think it is going to happen. It makes total sense to me. He is definitely going [to leave Real Madrid].”
