Farewell Message? David De Gea Thanks United Fans On Instagram
Manchester United fans seem to be already preparing for David De Gea’s summer exit, following the Spaniard’s latest post on Instagram.
De Gea has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid for quite some time now, but several sources claim the 26-year-old will finally be returning to the Spanish capital in the upcoming summer transfer window, and that too for a world transfer record fee for a goalkeeper.
United boss Jose Mourinho, however, has refused to drop any hints regarding De Gea’s potential transfer away from Manchester, and the Portuguese continues to insist that the player will remain at the club for the upcoming season.
“David is top in the world and obviously we want to keep the top in the world,” the former Chelsea gaffer recently told the media (via ESPN).
Mourinho was then asked when the club’s supporters will see the Spanish international wearing the famous red shirt of Manchester United again, to which he replied: “The first match against LA Galaxy in preseason in Los Angeles. I hope to play Sergio in the (Europa League) final and hopefully we don’t have problems with the keepers.”
But despite Jose’s comments regarding Dave’s future, many fans believe his time at the Theatre of Dreams is up, and the ex-Atletico Madrid man’s latest post on Instagram is being widely viewed as a farewell message to the Manchester United faithful.
The post consists of De Gea, pictured applauding Old Trafford following United’s final home game of the season, with the caption: “Thank you for your unconditional support!”
The comments section of the post is filled with a sea of United fans begging De Gea not to leave, whilst some are seen thanking him for his services and wishing him luck for his future.
A few Real Madrid fans can also be spotted, welcoming the star goalkeeper to the Bernabeu and dubbing him as the true successor of the legendary Iker Casillas.
