Zaha Commits Future To Crystal Palace Amidst Interest From Tottenham
Wilfried Zaha has signed a lucrative 5-year deal with Crystal Palace which will earn him £100,000-a-week.
The tricky Ivory international has shown great faith in the project at Crystal Palace by signing a new 5-year deal.
Despite Sam Allardyce leaving the club, the Eagles have done a commendable job in getting a new deal signed by their star player. The 24-year-old had 3 years left on his current contract, yet Palace have tied him up for a foreseeable future with the new deal.
Zaha had drawn strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who seek to strengthen their squad in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a big fan of the flair shown by the talented Ivorian, but in the light of the new contract, the Argentine might now need to cough up a few millions in excess if he still intends to sign Zaha.
In an official statement from Crystal Palace, Zaha said: “Palace is in my heart and I don’t think the story is over. I spoke with Steve and I think I still have more to give this Club.
“The supporters have been amazing and I want us to do more than just stay in the League next year. I would like to thank the chairman for being a big part of my journey and his fellow owners for backing me and rewarding my progression. Let’s do this!”
Club chairman Steve Parish also shared his delight over Zaha’s new contract, by saying: “He is our talisman and someone that week in week out gives everything for the Red and Blue. I’m delighted he has committed his future to us and look forward to climbing up the table with him next year.”
