United Uninterested In Selling Herrera To Barcelona
Manchester United sources have brushed away reports suggesting the club would sell Ander Herrera to Barcelona. The midfielder was linked to the Catalan giants after a season in which he was awarded United’s Player of the season award.
Herrera has helped the Red Devils to Community Shield, League Cup, and Europa League glory this season. In a side which lacked individual consistency, the Spaniard shone brightly in the middle of the pitch.
His performances, particularly his man-marking of Eden Hazard in their 2-0 Premier League win over Chelsea, reportedly caught Barcelona’s eye.
The management at Old Trafford, however, is not interested in letting go of the 27-year old, The Independent reported. The team looks to have found an identity under Jose Mourinho, and it is unlikely they would let go of the player who was named the Man of the Match for his performance in the final of the Europa League.

Barca are also looking to rebuild their squad this summer, under a new manager. Their new coach is expected to be Ernesto Valverde, who has previously worked with Herrera for a season at Athletic Bilbao, before the midfielder moved to England.
The 53-year-old understands that a major revamp is required at Camp Nou if they are to catch up with rivals Real Madrid. Even though the Blaugrana boast of strong midfield, their backup options have not lived up to expectations. In comparison, Real’s squad options have performed remarkably well.
The former Real Zaragoza midfielder would have been a good option for Barcelona, but with United likely to remain stubborn, they will have to look elsewhere. The Premier League giants would rather be interested in discussing a new contract with Herrera, who is also touted to be future captain for the club.
