Cristiano Ronaldo All But Confirms James Rodriguez’s Imminent Departure
Cristiano Ronaldo has almost confirmed that James Rodriguez will be leaving Real Madrid in the summer, amid interest in the playmaker from Top European clubs.
The Portuguese superstar has conceded that his teammate James Rodriguez has his reasons to depart Real Madrid in the summer. The Colombian, who has been unsettled at the Bernabeu for quite some time now, is set to leave the Spanish capital, with interest from United and Inter Milan.
Speaking to La Sexta (via ESPN FC), Cristiano said: ” James has his reasons [to leave] and we have to respect them. If he doesn’t feel happy and if he wants more, then he should look for the best thing for him.”
When asked what would he suggest his Colombian teammate, Ronaldo replied: ” If he asked my opinion, I would tell him to stay. Obviously he has his complaints and the best thing would be that he plays more, but these are very personal things. He has the potential to play for Real Madrid, but he has his reasons and we must respect them.”
James Rodriguez has found playing time hard to come by under Zinedine Zidane, as he has managed only 13 starts last season.
Inter Milan are seeking to recruit James as a potential replacement for the outgoing Ivan Persic, who will be joining Man United. Interestingly, Jose Mourinho’s side are also keeping an eye on James, as they seek to bolster their squad further.
