Ander Herrera has reportedly become one of Valencia CF’s top targets for the upcoming transfer window.

The Reds’ Player of the Year, Herrera has had a fine season under Jose Mourinho. The Spaniard has already been linked with a summer move to Barcelona to reunite with Ernesto Valverde, and as it seems, Valencia have also entered the race to sign him.

According to reports from Mirror, Los Che’s coach, Marcelino, is a huge admirer of the star midfielder, having already worked with him at Real Zaragoza, and has asked owner Peter Lim to try to land him this summer. Reports suggested that the United midfielder is a £30 million-plus target for the Spanish club.

However, it was also claimed that Manchester United have rebuffed Valencia’s enquiry, stating that there are no plans to sell the Spanish international this summer.

Herrera’s contract at Old Trafford runs until June 2018, and the club is keen on keeping the Spaniard. The Red Devils are prepared to offer him a new four-year deal along with a raise, as Jose Mourinho wants to augment Herrera’s £90,000-a-week salary to £180,000-a-week for his performance.

Nonetheless, if Valencia are serious about obtaining the midfielder’s signature, they might have to considerably up their current offer.
