Real Madrid are understood to have moved their focus in the search for a goalkeeper to the AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Real’s repeated interests to bring Manchester United’s David De Gea to their club seemingly fell on deaf ears, and the deal seems to have become more and more unlikely. With the Old Trafford outfit setting the price bar at £65 million, Los Blancos have now simmered down their interest.

Instead, as per Mirror, Zinedine Zidane has moved on to yet another goalkeeper hot in demand this transfer season – Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 18-year-old has not confirmed his position at Milan yet, and has been delaying his contract extension in order to look at prospective moves outside the club. The Rossoneri though, are planning a €3 million-a-season in wages plus bonuses in a new contract for the young prodigy.

His agent, Mino Raiola, is attempting to convert external bids on the player into an even better deal for the Italian National.

Members at Bernabeu are confident that they can land the goalkeeper for a value half of their previous Spanish target. The age advantage for Donnarumma also indicates that the player would be easier to work with.

The Italian wonderkid has been putting spectacular performances for a below-par AC Milan, who have failed to live up to the San Siro reputation. With the club finishing 6th in Serie A, their new owners have higher ambitions, and the Chinese billionaires are not afraid to pump in money to bring in talent and trophies back for them.

Since his debut for AC Milan back in 2015, Donnarumma has already played 68 games for the club. His performances have also earned him four starts for the Italian National team. Dubbed as the next “Gigi Buffon”, he is certainly following a path destined for greatness.
