Man United Tracking 20-Year-Old Celtic Defender

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, as Jose Mourinho is keen to add a new left-back to his squad in the coming weeks.

The Daily Star reports that the Red Devils had sent three scouts to watch the 20-year-old in Scotland’s 2-2 draw with England at Hampden Park.

The left-back position was a major problem position for Mourinho last season, and the Portuguese is set to strengthen the spot after being unconvinced by his current options.

Luke Shaw, who is yet to come back to the form that got him to Old Trafford in the first place, has been under the gun, as Mourinho had criticized the defender on several occasions last season.

Meanwhile, the signing of Tierney, who is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Britain, would add a great depth and stability to the current Manchester United squad.

Having won Celtic’s player of the year twice in a row, the 20-year-old has been valued by the club around £15 million, but they are not looking to sell him this summer. And the player himself has also dismissed any kind of speculation surrounding his future in Scotland.

He recently told the media: “You see stuff in the papers and on Twitter, people telling you and my friends as well, but I just need to concentrate on what I’m doing in training and playing well for Celtic.

“It’s easy for me because I’m happy where I am. I’m not thinking about anything else other than Celtic and just doing what I can for the team and helping us win every game.”
