PSG Transfer News: Massive Bid Received For Marquinhos
According to Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte, Manchester United have submitted a £62 million bid to sign PSG centre-back Marquinhos.
Having already signed Victor Lindelof, Manchester United aren’t resting on their laurels, as the club has now launched an ambitious bid to sign Marquinhos. The Reds are understood to have made a £62 million offer for the services of Brazilian defender, and are now waiting for a response from Paris Saint-Germain.
By signing Marquinhos, Jose Mourinho is looking to field an all new center-back partnership for the new season. The Portuguese clearly feels that his current crop of defenders are not good enough to mount a title challenge, and his audacious bid for the PSG defender confirms just that.
Marquinhos is a quick, ball playing center-back who can also operate on the right-wingback position, hence, adding versatility as a trait to his already impressive resume. The defender has been on the radars of European heavyweights like Barcelona and Juventus, but Mourinho seeks to beat them with his lucrative offer.

However, signing Marquinhos certainly won’t be easy, as PSG see him as a key player of their squad. In fact, the 23-year-old himself laid out his intentions of prolonging his stay at the club in a recent interview.
“I have a contract until 2019 and talks are underway to extend that,” the Brazil international told L’Equipe. “The new sporting director [Antero Henrique] had to be installed in order for negotiations to continue.
“I am relaxed, I have expressed my desire to stay with PSG so I am happy. It is also because of this that there have been so few rumours involving me this summer. It has been good because I have been able to enjoy my holidays in peace, without stress.
“I know that my future is in good hands, those of PSG, my agent [Giuliano Bertolucci] and my family. We are going to make the best decision.”
