As the transfer window enters its most hectic phase, Manchester City have been the outright winners so far, moving swiftly to sign Ederson and Bernardo Silva ahead of what looks to be a summer of extensive spending at the Etihad.

The duo is reportedly set to be followed by the signing of Dani Alves on a free transfer from Juventus. But, if reports are to be believed, he might not be the only former Barcelona man to reunite with Pep Guardiola, as reports from Calciomercato (via Telegraph) claim that Andres Iniesta could be joining the Citizens this summer.

The Spaniard was famously praised by Guardiola when he was just breaking through into the Barcelona team. The story goes that the then-veteran player quipped to Xavi: “You’re going to retire me, he (Iniesta) is going to retire us all.”

They would later link up at Barcelona as player and coach to conquer the modern football world, making it quite obvious to see why the coach wants to work with him again in England.

Any deal will be complicated, however, with the midfielder reiterating his desire to retire at the club he has spent all his life with. It will be the biggest coup of the summer if City pull this off, with Iniesta remaining one of the best midfielders in Europe, even at the age of 33.

The current Barcelona captain could form a deadly attacking force alongside fellow Spaniard David Silva, as well as pace merchants Jesus, Sane, and Sterling upfront, transforming City into overwhelming favorites for the Premier League title.
