Premier League Giants Ready To Lock Horns For Ousmane Dembele
Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea are closely watching the developments of Borussia Dortmund talent Ousmane Dembele, and could make efforts to sign him this summer.
Dembele joined Dortmund from Rennes last summer, and since then, he has established himself as the creative force for the German club, registering an incredible 21 assists and netting 10 goals in 48 appearances.
Owing to his sparkling performances, the Frenchman has popped up on the radar of Europe’s top clubs, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool all being linked with him for many months.
However, the latest reports in Eurosport (via Inside Futbol) claims that Chelsea and Manchester United could also join the race to sign one of Europe’s brightest young prospect, as both the clubs are impressed with Dembele’s recent performance for his national team against England.
The report also goes on to say that Dembele has been badly affected by the exit of Tuchel, the man who had a major influence on his decision to move to Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund are likely to demand £80m to sanction the release of the player, but such a figure won’t put off Chelsea or United.
The talented midfielder rejected a move to Leicester City last year, but has a chance to sign for the Premier League heavyweights this summer. Despite being linked with Europe’s top clubs, Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc has already insisted that Dembele will not be for sale.
“Ousmane Dembele has a long-term contract [until 2021] and we are making definite plans with him. There are no negotiations [with Barca]. Ousmane is going to be playing for Dortmund in the coming season,” Zorc told German Newspaper Waz.
While the club is taking enough steps to keep hold of him, BVB might have a tough time after the 20-year-old’s stellar first season at Westfalenstadion.
