Arsene Wenger sees Martial as the back-up target if his efforts to sign Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe end in vain.

Arsenal boss is doing all he can to lure Mbappe to the Emirates, yet he aware of the tough asking – which is why the French manager is keen on out-of-favor Martial as a rescue plan should Arsenal’s bid for Mbappe fail.

According to the Daily Mail, Wenger is ready to test United’s resolve by making £40 million bid for his countryman. Martial has been on fringes for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho, who doesn’t seem to have the forward in his plans.

However, the 67-year-old tactician is afraid that his historical animosity with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could prove to be a big hurdle in getting the transfer over the line – sensing which Arsenal are expected to negotiate the deal above managerial level.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger is said to be ‘obsessed’ in his attempts to land the most coveted Monaco starlet at Arsenal.

Even without Champions League football to attract big players, Arsene is confident that he can lure the Monaco wonderkid. Even Mbappe is reportedly considering a move to Arsenal, as he believes that Wenger is the right person to guide him to greatness.

Having already signed Sead Kolasinac and nearing an agreement with Lyon’s Lacazette, Arsenal are pretty active in transfer window with Mbappe as their No. 1 transfer target. The Gunners are eager to put last season’s disappointment behind and challenge for the Premier League title by adding quality players.
