Arsenal In Talks With Lyon For Alexandre Lacazette
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are in advanced talks to land French striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners are keen to add some firepower to their attack by signing Lacazette before the 2017/18 season commences.
The Lyon forward was among the most lethal attackers in world football, as the 26-year-old finished the season with an impressive 37 goals. The player is said to be keen on a switch to the London based club, but a final fee is yet to be agreed.
Lyon are willing to let go of their star player, but only if Arsenal meet their valuation of €50m. Club president Aulas faced press, where he said: “We cannot let a player of that quality go without his replacement. We are talking about €50m to €60m.”
Aulas then confirmed about an Arsenal offer for Lacazette, saying: “Arsenal are ready to pay for Lacazette. Everyone knows Atletico were going to pay €53m plus €12m in add-ons. That’s €65m.”
Lyon, understandably so, won’t look to let go of their prolific striker so easily. Aulas even suggested that Lyon might hold out for the Atletico’s offer that they received, by adding: “I do not intend to sell Alexandre quickly, because there is always the option of Atletico Madrid to signing him on January 1, 2018.”
Although Lyon are waiting for a better offer from Arsenal, it is expected that Arsene Wenger will get the deal over the line. Meanwhile, the French manager is also waiting on Mbappe’s decision on whether he would join the Gunners or not.
