Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has hit out at speculation that he could return to English champions, Chelsea. The Belgian striker took to social media site Twitter to deny any speculation.

Lukaku, who has two years remaining on his Everton contract, has been strongly linked with his former club after he said he would not sign a new deal with the Toffees.

Over the weekend, the star striker shared a video that showed him playing five-a-side football in the United States on a pitch surrounded by Chelsea logos. The incident led to speculation that an imminent move to the London giants was closer.

Lukaku responded by stating that it is just a five-a-side game and that rumor mongers needed to chill.

Lukaku had another superb season under his belt, after netting 26 goals in 39 games last term. He is being expected to replace Diego Costa, who wants a move to his former club, Atletico Madrid.

Earlier this month, Lukaku had revealed that he and his agent had reached “an agreement” with another club, adding that he intended to remain in the Premier League.

“I know what’s happening. But I can’t tell you anything more. I know what’s happening, but I will leave the talks to my agent,” said the Belgium international. “The most important thing is I want to win trophies. We are now talking to the club.”

The 24-year-old has a contract at Everton for another two years, and has scored 71 goals in 133 appearances for the Merseyside club.
