Besiktas have activated the clause in Talisca’s contract that keeps him with the Turkish giants for another year.

Benfica’s Anderson Talisca won’t be able to complete his dream move to Manchester United this summer, as the loaned out player has been retained for another year by Besiktas due to a clause in loan agreement.

The attacking midfielder had earlier revealed that it was his dream to don the Manchester United jersey, and Jose Mourinho wanted him too.

Talisca had a productive campaign at Besiktas last season, where he scored 13 goals and assisted 2 others in the Super Lig. However, the player will now have to continue with the Turkish club for another year, despite having his heart set on a move to Manchester United.

Umut Guner, the president of Besiktas’ transfer committee, has categorically ruled a possible move for Talisca by stating (via Turkish-Football): “There is no deal with Manchester United or anyone else in place”

The president then talked about Besiktas’ exercise of the clause, by adding: “We agreed to a two-year deal with Benfica. The loan did have a clause that the option [for a second year] had to be activated, which we did.

“Talisca will stay at Besiktas on loan for another season. Reports claiming that he can be signed for his €25m release clause are false, he has a deal with us. If a club wants to sign him now they will have to wait another 12 months.”
