Ronaldo In Defiant Mood After Being Quizzed On Transfer Speculation
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was in a defiant mood when asked about the speculation surrounding his future this summer.
The Portuguese international has been linked with a summer return to Old Trafford, but has refused to speak about his future. Ronaldo, who was in Russia for the Confederations Cup, was asked about a move after Portugal’s loss to Chile in the semi-final.
The Ballon d’Or winner refused to be drawn on the situation, as he said (via AS): “I will not speak and I will not break my silence.”
The 32-year-old has been linked with moves to former club Manchester United and French club Paris Saint-Germain, following reports that he is angry at the scrutiny of his tax affairs in Spain.
Earlier this month, the Los Blancos superstar was accused of defrauding Spanish tax authorities of €14.7 million – claims which the player has denied.
Ronaldo scored 25 La Liga goals last season, and helped Real break Barcelona’s dominance by winning the league. The Portuguese also broke the scoring record in the UEFA Champions League’s competition, as Real became the first club in the competition to claim back-to-back trophies.
Meanwhile, Real president Florentino Perez believes his prized asset will stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu, but has conceded that Ronaldo is angry with the situation he finds himself in.
