Second Transfer Blow: Chelsea Could Miss Out On Tiemoue Bakayoko
With Chelsea fans still reeling from the loss of their ex-player and long-term target Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, new reports might spark even more trouble for the London club.
According to Daily Mail (via The Sun), Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko could also be making his way to Old Trafford following Lukaku.
Chelsea have been long associated with the Frenchman, and have been strongly pursuing his services since Matic’s move elsewhere seemed inevitable for the Blues.

It has been stated quite often that the Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been growing impatient with the management at Stamford Bridge, especially at their inability to close down deals quicker than they currently are.
The reigning English Champions are also underperforming in the transfer market despite their requirement of players in new positions, especially up front.
The French champions are frustrated with the slow pace and lack of urgency Chelsea are showing to complete a deal for the 22-year-old, and hence, are willing to listen to newer offers, including that of Manchester United.
If that were to happen, it would be quite a disastrous ending for the club, as two of their prime transfer targets would both be out of their reach, and in the grasp of their direct title rivals.

Apart from that, they would now have to scout for similar players for the same position in a rather reduced time frame, and may have to end up paying more for the same quality of players.
That being said, the rumors can’t be directly validated by any strong source or proof, and hence, should only be looked at with a skeptical eye. Bakayoko has been hinting at a move to London for quite some time now, and a United move for France international seems highly unlikely.
Jose Mourinho has been looking at several names to bolster his midfield this season and has also put up several bids, but none have cashed in yet. Inter’s Perisic was heavily linked, alongside Fabinho from Monaco. Unfortunately for United fans, hopes of signing Matic or Dier have grown to be very weak.
