Chelsea Close In On Monaco Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko

AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move to Chelsea could be announced in the upcoming days. The star player was also linked with Manchester United, who are yet to make an offer, according to reports.
The defensive midfielder has been in the spotlight this summer after a brilliant season with Monaco, as he helped them to the Ligue 1 title as well as a spot in the Champions League semifinals. Both Chelsea and United were said to be chasing the player, but it now seems he has set his heart on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Bakayoko has been linked with the Blues whole summer, before reports suggested that the Red Devils had hijacked the move by agreeing a £35m deal with the French Champions.

However, according to Manchester Evening News, Antonio Conte’s side have always been in the pole position for the player, and the Old Trafford club has submitted no formal bid whatsoever.

A deal for the 22-year-old is expected to be completed very soon, as the newly crowned Premier League winners look to add key players to their squad, and have a serious go in order to defend their title.
The Monaco player is set to be a key figure in the centre of the pitch for Conte, and his arrival could free up Nemanja Matic, who is expected to find a new club, with both Manchester United and Inter Milan interested in the former Benfica star.
