Ed Woodward Skips Man Utd’s US Tour To Wrap Up Perisic And Dier Deals

With Manchester United currently in USA for their pre-season tour, their Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward has failed to meet up with the team, as he continues to work on completing a deal for Ivan Perisic and Eric Dier.

According to The Mirrorthe Red Devils are trying to wrap up a £45 million deal for the Croatian midfielder by next week. If the 28-year-old does arrive at the club, he would be their third major signing this summer, after Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.

The Inter Milan talisman’s move to Old Trafford would also mean that Jose Mourinho would have successfully brought in a player of effect in all three regions of the pitch – defense, midfield, and attack.

The bid has made several rounds between San Siro and Old Trafford, with the Milan-based club demanding £50m for the winger. Man United, who were not happy with the high base value, have been trying to get a good deal ever since. Their most recent £45m bid is understood to be a last-ditch attempt to broker a deal.

While the United squad are currently in the USA, Perisic has traveled along with the rest of Inter Milan squad for their pre-season training at Northern Italy. It is learned that the player has been trying to push for the move himself, so that he can join the Reds and get comfortable as early as possible.

With Spalletti, the new Inter coach, already stating that he would like to keep the midfielder at the club, Manchester United would find it harder to wrap up the transfer. The deal also needs to be done before the International Champions Cup in China, which kicks off in a week from today.

Ed Woodward, on the other hand, has stayed back in Manchester for more than just Ivan Perisic, as he also tries to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur for close to £50 million.

As this seems to be another improbable target, the Old Trafford officials would be pushing on to complete at least one deal by the end of next week.
