Naby Keita Rejects Man City Advances To Push For A Liverpool Move
RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita has rejected an approach by Manchester City to speed up his Liverpool move, reports to Foot224 journalist Amadou Makadji.
Liverpool will be encouraged by their transfer target’s recent activity, where the Guinean refused to entertain an approach by rivals Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s side is yet to reach an agreement with Keita’s club over a transfer fee, yet the Reds must be loving the midfielder’s strong intent to come to Anfield.
The Merseyside club has had numerous bids rejected for Keita so far, the latest being £57 million in valuation. The Bundesliga club has made it clear that they won’t look to sell their prized for anything less than a staggering £70 million.
However, Liverpool remain confident of getting their man, largely due to the player’s preference for playing for them.
Klopp has made Keita his no.1 transfer target for this summer, as the German sees the 22-year-old as the missing piece in his puzzle. The midfielder is known for traits like high work rate, great pace, and dribbling ability – just what Klopp wants in his players to execute his famous gegenpress.
Having signed Mohamed Salah from Roma, the Anfield giants are keen to add Keita and a defender to their squad before the season kicks off. Notably, Liverpool had to pull out of their pursuit of Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk, after the Saints accused them of wrongdoing in their approach to sign the defender.
