Manchester United To Make A Final Attempt To Sign Eric Dier
Manchester United have been trying to sign Tottenham’s Eric Dier, but the North London club is yet to budge.
Jose Mourinho recently admitted that he wants to sign two more players in this transfer window, and there are strong suggestions that Eric Dier of Spurs is one of them. The Portuguese coach wants to have options for holding midfield position, despite offering Michael Carrick an extension till 2018.
Manchester United’s vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has been given the responsibility to carry out the negotiations, but a deal is far from completion as of now.
Woodward is understood to have made a £40 million offer to lure the English international to Old Trafford, but the bid stands rejected, as Tottenham don’t intend to sell one of their most talented youngsters.
Although Dier is very keen to join Manchester United because of his admiration of the club, an agreement between the clubs is proving to be the dealbreaker right now.
According to the Mirror, in a final attempt to reach an agreement with Spurs, the Red Devils are now preparing a mega £60 million offer to test the resolve of Tottenham chairman Daniel Lewy.
Having sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50 million, Tottenham might be tempted to sell Dier to City’s arch-rivals because of the new stadium. If a transfer goes through, Spurs will pocket a huge profit, as they signed the midfielder for just £4 million in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon.
