Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be interested in Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, and are set to make a bid, according to reports. The Spaniard is considered to be a promising midfielder and a future star.

According to reports in Spanish outlet Don Balon, the Spaniard is on Jose Mourinho’s radar, and United are considering making a vital offer for the versatile young prodigy. The 21-year-old impressed for Spain in the European U21 Championships, which came after a promising debut season for Madrid.

Reports claim that apart from United, Arsenal are also interested in Asensio, and are hoping to lure him to England. The player managed to score 10 goals in 38 appearances in La Liga last season, despite featuring mainly from the bench. Zinedine Zidane values the player highly, and is unlikely to part ways with him.

It will take a lot for United to tempt Real in selling Asensio, however, as Los Blancos would be reluctant after the high profile exits of James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata. To add to it, Italian champions Juventus are also reported to be interested in Asensio’s services.

Real Madrid played hard ball with Man United over Morata by refusing to bend over a fee, before selling him to Chelsea for a lower valuation once United ended their interest. It is unlikely that the Red Devils would want to do business with Real any time soon, as their relationship is said to be strained.

United have signed only two players this season, and have seen deals for winger Ivan Perisic and midfielder Nemanja Matic stall. Although, it has been stated that a deal could be done for Matic in the upcoming days.

Asensio could provide United with a lot of zeal in the attacking midfield role, but whether United will succeed in landing the player remains to be seen in the weeks to come.
