Juventus Interested In Liverpool’s Emre Can, As Per Italian Reports
Liverpool are set to lose their versatile midfielder Emre Can this summer, according to reports in Italian media. The German international could be on his way to the Serie A, and bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
According to Tuttosport, the midfielder has agreed personal terms with Italian champions Juventus, but the clubs are yet to agree a fee for the player. Juve are keen to bolster their midfield options, and view Can as a vital player to add more dimension in their play.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner has been linked with the Old Lady of Turin for a number of months now, and speculation continues to take stage, as negotiations for a new deal at the Merseyside outfit appear to have stalled.
Juventus were also said to be interested in Chelsea star Nemanja Matic, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United. However, it is believed that Can is now the frontrunner to join the Italian giants.
Liverpool have options in midfield despite the sale of Lucas Leiva to Lazio. Jürgen Klopp has also been pursuing RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, and should they be successful in signing him, that would deplete Can’s playing opportunities.
Can featured in 40 games for the Reds last season, and scored 5 goals to help them qualify for the upcoming season’s UEFA Champions League.
The 23-year-old has a year left on his contract with Liverpool, and Juve feel they can tie the player down with a substantial bid, despite Klopp being keen to extend his stay. Can will have to decide his future in the upcoming days, as Juventus are looking to wrap things up quickly.
