Chelsea Send Kenedy Home After He Posts Comments Insulting China On Social Media
Premier League Champions Chelsea have sent Kenedy home, cutting short his pre-season tour with the club, after the winger posted offensive comments about China on social media, according to various reports.
The Blues, who could have faced a ban from China had they not sent the 21-year-old back, have issued an apology which stated their ‘respect for the Chinese people,’ after Kenedy humiliated the country through his Instagram posts.
The club’s apology read: “This behavior fell well below the very high standards we expect of our players. Kenedy regrets the posts and any upset they have caused and has apologized.
“Everyone at Chelsea Football Club has the utmost respect for the Chinese people, who have been the most incredible hosts and we are extremely grateful for their hospitality.”
“Porra china,” which translates to “F*****g China” was the first of Kenedy’s insulting posts that enraged the Chinese people, while the second post was of a dozing security guard leaning against a wall with the headingL “Acorda china Vacilao”, meaning “Wake up China Lazy.”
However, the winger also posted an apology from his side on the club’s official website on Monday, saying: “I would like to apologise to the people of China for the office I have caused. It was never my intention to insult or offend anyone at all and I now realise my comments were totally inappropriate.”
