Di Marzio: Juventus Forced To Change Plans After Missing Out On Emre Can

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have turned their attention back towards their long-term target Blaise Matuidi, after Liverpool confirmed that Emre Can is not for sale.

The Old Lady outfit are in the summer market to buy an experienced midfielder, and have been linked with Liverpool’s Emre Can and Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic for many months.

However, their pursuit of Premier League’s top midfielders could prove to be incredibly difficult, and most likely unsuccessful, as Matic is likely to join Manchester United, while Emre Can is currently in talks with Liverpool to extend his stay at Anfield.

Reports in Italy recently claimed that Juve had launched a £31m bid for the Can, but Liverpool rejected the offer for their German International.

After growing frustrated in their pursuit of the Premier League duo, the Serie A giants have seemingly turned their attention back towards Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi. The report also adds that Juventus have reopened conversations with Matuidi’s agent Mino Raiola over a potential transfer.

Matuidi, who has made nearly 300 appearances for PSG, has been a long-term target for Juve. They made constant efforts to sign Matuidi even in the previous transfer windows, and the Frenchman was almost on the verge of making the switch once, before PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi chose to retain the player.

This time, however, it is going to be difficult for the Parisian club to hold on to their star player, as Matuidi, who enters the final year of his contract, has reportedly told the board that he is expecting a new challenge.

Furthermore, Matuidi’s father, Faria, has already revealed that his son was more interested in staying at PSG previously, but is no longer happy with the current situation, particularly after the arrival of new sporting director Antero Henrique.
