Interested clubs have been given a two-week deadline to sign Anderlecht’s defensive midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

Having progressed through the youth ranks of Anderlecht, the 22-year-old broke into the first team in the 2013/14 season, and since then, Dendoncker has established himself as one of the important players for the Belgian giants.

Last season, the youngster made 57 appearances and bagged 6 goals, but his most influential performance came during Anderlecht’s Europa League match against Manchester United, wherein he scored a bullet header in the first leg and made life difficult for the United players with his incredible presence in the heart of midfield.

Owing to his exploits, the Red Devils are strongly linked with him, and in fact, they reportedly sent scouts to watch Dendoncker in Anderlecht’s match against Antwerp. The 6 feet 2 inch Belgian, who is valued at €30m, has also attracted interest from Everton, PSG, RB Leipzig, and AC Milan.

Considering strong interests from Europe’s top clubs, Anderlecht chairman Herman Van Holsbeeck has claimed that the club is willing to let Dendoncker leave, but he also warned that the transfer dealings should be completed sooner rather than later.

“One thing that is certain is that we will no longer let Leander go once we reach the final days of the transfer window. We will do everything we can to get him to stay with us for another year,” said Holsbeeck.

Dendoncker has already expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, but if there is any lack of progress in the transfer, he could extend his contract with Anderlecht, and secure a move to England next summer.
