Transfer News: Who Will Be At Real Madrid’s Goal Line Next Season?
Long-term Real Madrid target David De Gea has ruled out a move away from Old Trafford this summer, reports Spanish outlet Don Balon.
De Gea caught everyone’s eye following his arrival in Manchester from Atletico Madrid back in 2011. Since then, the Spaniard has established himself well at United as well as in Europe, and he is currently considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in modern football.
Consequently, the talented shot-stopper has attracted interests from some big names, including Real Madrid and Barcelona. Furthermore, Real president Florentino Perez seems particularly interested in adding De Gea’s abilities to his side.
Meanwhile, Don Balon reported the Spanish international himself made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Old Trafford this summer, ending Perez’s hopes of bringing him over to the Bernabeu.
Interestingly, Perez has confirmed the Spanish giants will start the season with Keylor Navas in goal, which could’ve been due to the United goalkeeper’s recent statements.
Meanwhile, there have also been whispers around the media suggesting a move for Thibaut Courtois to the Spanish capital. The Belgian earned his place as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper since returning from a successful loan spell at Atletico.
Though the switch is highly unlikely, Perez’s pulling powers cannot be doubted. On the other hand, however, this means Navas will retain his place as the Los Blancos first-choice goalkeeper.
The Costa Rican has been a familiar name in the Galacticos’ squad ever since club legend Iker Casillas departed. Moreover, the reliable keeper has been consistent and impressive, and he managed to make 28 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos last season.
Navas, 30, has been enjoying his spell as a Galactico, and has already lifted two Champions League trophies at Madrid. Boss Zinedine Zidane has faith and high hopes for him, and so, Navas would certainly be looking to stay in Madrid and fight for his position should a new keeper arrive.
