Juventus To Make Shock Move For Marouane Fellaini
Juventus are looking to make a late plunge into the transfer market in an attempt to strengthen their squad. Now, in their pursuit of a central midfielder, the Italian side has set its sight at Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini.
Reports from The Sun suggest that the Italian giants are hoping to sign the Red Devils’ controversial midfielder. This news comes in the background of a more recent pursuit of PSG’s Blaise Matuidi.
While the deal for the Frenchman is believed to be all but done, manager Massimiliano Allegri is keen on bringing another central midfielder to the ranks of the Bianconeri.
A strong, tall, and imposing presence in the center is what the Italian giants are hoping to secure, and Fellaini fits this profile better than most players.
However, when interest was shown for the Belgian by Turkish side Galatasaray, Jose Mourinho was quick to dismiss it. He insisted that it would be easier for any club to sign himself than the 29-year old, who according to the Portuguese boss, is a key part of the club.
Moreover, it is arguably unlikely that the Old Lady would require the services of both Matuidi and Fellaini, with the likes of Stefano Sturaro and veteran midfielder Sami Khedira already a part of their midfield team.
The only chance the reigning Italian champions may have at securing the Manchester United man is if they reckon Nemanja Matic to be enough talent down in the middle. This is unlikely when one looks at the long line of local and European fixtures that the Red Devils have waiting in the months to follow.
Following their shock 2-3 defeat to Lazio, it will be interesting to see what measures Juventus will take to stabilize their side before the transfer window closes at the end of this month. They have managed to hold an iron grip over the Serie A for years now, but one is left to wonder if that might change this season.
