What’s the story?

Manchester City have prioritised strengthening their defence this summer, and have been splashing the cash in order to do so. With an aim to fasten that process, reports from BBC suggest that the club is planning a shock move for West Brom captain Jonny Evans.

Should the deal take place?

Evans joined West Brom in 2015, and has since been an integral part of their well settled defensive system. The Ireland international has seen a rise in form, and was the centre of attraction from clubs like Arsenal and Leicester City recently. Pep Guardiola has already brought in the likes of Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy in this window, and seems eager to add in a touch of unmatched experience to his side. With every pro comes a set of cons, and age, along with pace, are those that are a part of this deal. From leading a side to fighting for a place at the Etihad, it might be a decision Evans might not be too keen on making.

Possibility of it happening

Jonny Evans has won three Premier League titles with Manchester United and made 198 appearances with them before moving to the Hawthorns. The chances of their biggest rivals signing him this summer are no higher than 5/10.

2. Eliaquim Mangala To Inter Milan

What’s the story?

Inter Milan have been keeping a close eye on Manchester City’s defenders this summer, and are said to be chasing the duo of Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala. According to reports coming in from the Express, Pep Guardiola sees Otamendi as a crucial part of his team next season, but will allow the Serie A club to take away the other player involved.

Should the deal take place?

Mangala spent last season on loan with Villarreal, and is struggling to find game time under the new boss at the Etihad. The defender joined the side three seasons ago, but has failed to make an impact at the club ever since. Negotiations seem to be taking place at the moment, but the asking price of £18 million might prove to be a barrier in an otherwise easy deal. The player is clearly surplus to requirements at City, and heading to a club that wants him and his services might help him bring his career back on track.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of Mangala heading to Inter Milan are currently 8/10.

3. Marouane Fellaini To Juventus

What’s the story?

In what can be called as the most surprising and amusing rumour of the transfer window so far, the Sun has reported that Juventus are now eyeing Marouane Fellaini as a potential summer purchase. The Belgian is being seen as a midfield necessity at the Serie A club, and is said to be valued at £22.5 million by Massimiliano Allegri.

Should the deal take place?

The player has turned a tough corner at Manchester United, and is recently improving his performances for the club. What started out as a hateful relationship, is now turning into a loving bond with the fans of Old Trafford. The Italian Champions want strength in the middle of their park, and none come taller and more physically intimidating than Fella himself. However, Mourinho is a big fan of the player, and he recently joked that there are higher chances of his own self leaving the club as compared to Fellaini’s. Chasing the star might be a waste of time for the Old Lady, and thus, it is an interest that should end as soon as possible.

Possibility of it happening

Juventus confirmed the signing of Matuidi recently, and that could probably bring this case to an incomplete end. The possibility of Marouane Fellaini heading to Italy is currently 2/10.

4. Danny Rose To Chelsea

What’s the story?

With Danny Rose’s future uncertain at Tottenham Hotspur, the Sun reported that the player is now being chased by Chelsea, as they prepare a sensational £50 million bid for his services.

Should the deal take place?

The Blues are frustrated with the lack of transfer business this summer, and seem desperate to bring in quality new names to the squad, especially after the opening day humiliation at the hands of Burnley. Antonio Conte’s squad lacks the depth to regain the Premier League title while battling it out in the Champions League at the same time. The arrival of a quality left-back is crucial for the club, and with Alex Sandro’s deal not coming through, an unsettled Rose could be the perfect answer to that particular problem. However, Tottenham have had a woeful transfer window so far, and might not be too keen on selling any more players.

Possibility of it happening

The two clubs face off in a Derby this weekend, and the possibility of the player joining the rival club is currently 4/10.
