With the summer transfer window inching to a finish, Chelsea, amongst other clubs, are eager to use their financial prowess and secure last minute signings.

Despite welcoming Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero to their ranks this summer, the Blues might just have one more deal in the works.

According to BetStars (via Daily Star), Antonio Conte is adamant to sign Real Madrid central midfielder Marcos Llorente. The site has put up 5/4 odds of the Spaniard arriving at Stamford Bridge before the window closes in the next few days.

Having already lost holding midfielder Nemanja Matic, the London outfit hopes to sign the 22-year-old as his replacement.

The youngster spent the last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves, having put up an impressive performance on the pitch. However, he has struggled to secure a regular first team spot in Los Blancos’ starting eleven. In this regard, a move to Chelsea will prove beneficial, as the club is struggling to secure their midfield.

Fellow compatriot and former teammate Alvaro Morata has already joined the English side, which might provide the incentive for Llorente to follow through.

Football pundit Michael Ángel Díaz on Cope’s El Partidazo recently revealed: “Marcos Llorente, who is one of the pearls of Real Madrid and who played on loan at Alavés last year, has had around 35 teams that have been interested in him, including Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona.”

Therefore, it is evident that the Blues will have to face stiff competition in order to secure their latest target’s services.

Chelsea have had an underwhelming start to their season, having lost the FA Community Shield to Arsenal and suffered an embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Burnley on opening day. With manager Antonio Conte being vocal about the side’s lack of transfer business, supporters will be hoping that at least this deal will see reality.
