Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign PSG’s Serge Aurier, according to Sky Sports.

It is being reported that the right-back has completed his medical ahead of a £23m transfer to the London club. Tottenham are yet to make a formal announcement of their newest acquisition due to certain issues regarding the 24-year-old’s entry in the United Kingdom.

The Ivory Coast international was banned from entering the country following a two-month suspended jail term that prevented Aurier from stepping foot in the island nation. But scandals aside, the right-back is a serious talent, and is one of the most promising young full-backs in the world today.

Aurier could be a crucial asset for Mauricio Pochettino, as he can provide a wonderful backup for Kieran Trippier. Needless to say, the competition for the right-back spot is going to heat up, which can result in getting the best out of both the full-backs.

While Aurier has played in France all his life, making his professional debut with Lens, he looks like a player who has both the skill and the physicality to meet the standards that the Premier League demands each week.

And while his Parisian employers are letting him go, they are believed to be forced to do so, in order to be within the realms of FIFA’s fair play regulations following Neymar’s record-breaking transfer.

Pochettino recently conceded that he needed to make three more signings before the transfer window closes. And with Aurier’s move almost a done deal, he would no longer have to bother looking for a reliable right-back anymore.
