Mourinho Reveals He Needs More Signings To ‘Close The Gap’ On Europe’s Elite
Jose Mourinho has revealed that he still needs to bring in more signings before his team can look exactly like he wants it to.
The Portuguese boss managed to secure three of four targets he was aiming to bring in this summer, and his team is already starting to look like title winners, with three wins in their first three games. While they struggled for goals last season, United already have 10 so far, and have not conceded a single goal yet.
The arrivals of Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, and Victor Lindelof have added that extra bit of quality in key areas of the pitch that the club were sorely lacking last season.
Despite the obvious improvement, though, Mourinho is adamant that he is not done yet, and aims to bring in more top quality players next summer in order to help his side ‘close the gap’ between them and Europe’s elite clubs.
“I have said three [summer] transfer windows is what I need to have the team I want to have — the team [that] I think can bring Manchester United to the top of English football and to close the gap to the top of European football again”, the Portuguese stated.
“I still think we need that third transfer window, but I’m not going to wait for the third transfer window to try to reach it.”
