Arsenal Star Looking To Join Manchester United For Free Next Year
Mesut Ozil is yet to sign an extension at the Emirates, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. However, if latest reports are to be believed, the German does not wish to extend his stay at Arsenal, and will move on next year, when his contract expires.
The former Real Madrid man is said to be considering joining Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign. Notably, Ozil and Mourinho have worked together at Real Madrid, where they shared a good relationship.
Sunday Mirror Sport has claimed that Ozil’s advisors have laid the foundation of a free transfer to Manchester United next summer. It is also believed that the German international’s camp has checked the feasibility of an important role at Old Trafford, and the feedback has been positive so far.
Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Mesut since his Real Madrid days, as the Portuguese tactician believes that Ozil is the best no.10 in the world. While praising the Arsenal man, Mourinho once famously said: “Özil is unique. There is no copy of him – not even a bad one. He is the best number 10 in the world.”
The mutual admiration between Ozil and Mourinho will prove to be the decisive factor in the possible free transfer. However, Inter Milan have also expressed interest in signing the Arsenal man for free next season. If Ozil runs out his contract at the Emirates, there would be no shortage of suitors for him next year, with big European clubs keeping tabs.
