Forward Wanted By Real Madrid Reveals His Dream Club
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has revealed his ‘dream’ of playing for Manchester United, despite being linked with Real Madrid.
Werner completed his switch to Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016, and has subsequently risen through the ranks at the club. The German striker has so far scored five goals in his six appearances for the Red Bulls this season.
Multiple European elites have been reportedly keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool were heavily linked with Werner in the summer transfer window, but the Golden Boot winner for Germany at the Confederations Cup revealed his ‘dream’ is to play for Manchester United.
While talking to Sky, the German international stated: “As a young boy, you always dream of the big club you’d like to play for. It used to be Manchester United under Alex Ferguson, who always won. A young boy is always a fan of those who win. You can’t just drop something like that. When it’s going well, you dream of playing somewhere else.”
However, the 21-year-old is currently focused on his career at Red Bull Arena, and he added that the club’s ‘chances are good’ for winning major silverware this season. RB Leipzig are just one point behind Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, and level on points with second-placed Champions Bayern Munich.
“We want to win some trophies. I don’t know if this will happen with RB but the chances are good this year that we can get a trophy,” he added.
