Anthony Martial stole the spotlight in the massively anticipated clash between United and Tottenham by finding the back of the net in the significant 1-0 victory. The 21-year-old scored the crucial goal despite being a substitute, snatching the much-needed three points in a win over fellow title contenders at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho preferred Marcus Rashford over the Frenchman to start the match, and subbed in the ex-Monaco man later on, with just twenty minutes of play left.

However, the young forward caught the manager’s attention, as he latched on to Romelu Lukaku’s flick from David De Gea’s long kick, to provide his side with an advantage.

The France international, lightly frustrated over the gaffer’s choice, spoke about it post-match. He told Sky Sports: “No, me I want to play, I don’t want to be on the bench. But Rashford played good, too. The manager tried to give us a chance, so we have to score and give assists.”

The next fixture for the Red Devils is against Benfica at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, prior to a much-highlighted game with Chelsea on Sunday. Martial, owing to the heroic performance he showcased against Spurs, is presumed to start the match, after having let the United boss know that he is craving for more match time to display his talents.
