Revealed: Jose Mourinho Doesn’t Trust These Three Players
According to football pundit Charlie Nicholas, Jose Mourinho has trouble trusting three key Manchester United players.
It’s a widely accepted perception that it often takes time for players to settle with the Portuguese, as evident with the likes of Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Luke Shaw, who initially struggled to win the attention of the prestigious figure.
Shaw has been considered to be in a deadlock since the advent of Mourinho at Old Trafford. The circumstances, regardless, are not expected to get any better anytime soon. Nonetheless, Sky Sports‘ Charlie Nicholas believes that there are three other players that are largely distrusted by the United gaffer.

Nicholas proclaimed that he feels that the tactician is not completely placing his faith in three of his regular centre-halves. On the Sky Sports’ Debate Show, Nicholas spoke about Mourinho, and stated: “I don’t think he trusts his defenders.
“How many times have we had this discussion? Ever since Mourinho got there, he doesn’t trust Smalling. I don’t think he’s convinced Jones is his man as he is not sure whether he is physically adaptable. He probably thinks he is a bit too rash. As we know, Lindelof has had an almighty struggle.”

Lindelof, who switched to Old Trafford in a €35 million deal this summer, was given the chance at the back by the Portuguese coach. However, despite appearing promising at first, he ultimately disappointed Mourinho. The Swede played horribly against both Huddersfield and Swansea, ruining the opportunity to win the boss’ attention.
Although the 54-year-old is supposedly against trusting the three aforementioned centre-backs, there is one defender who has completely earned his faith.
“Bailly has been the one (he does trust). He is a bit raw. And then he brings in (Ashley) Young all of a sudden and you start to get confused. That is what Mourinho does and you are left scratching your head,” added the ex-Arsenal man.
Regardless, Mourinho is currently making advances with Manchester United, and his team is time and again being compared with that of Sir Alex Ferguson’s.
