Jose Mourinho is craving for a pay hike on his current contract at Manchester United, according to Mirror.

The Portuguese, at present, earns £12m-a-year. However, the gaffer is seemingly in need of more numbers as he is purportedly wishing for a £3m-a-year pay raise. Accordingly, his agent Jorge Mendes has New Year talks planned with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The influential figure has managed the Red Devils quite remarkably, with the current campaign being his second for the Old Trafford outfit. He bagged three trophies in his first season in charge at Old Trafford, and has got the club back into the grand Champions League, despite finishing sixth in the league table last season.

Although the tactician couldn’t get his hands anywhere near the Premier League title last season, his work led the team to grab the League Cup, the Community Shield, and the Europa League title, which provided them with access to the Champions League,

Everything seems to be going fine for the English giants, as they sit second in the table, just five points behind the team on top. Mourinho guided his men to European glory last term, and by doing so, the Portuguese coach made sure United hit their performance targets with lead sponsors Adidas and Chevrolet.

The 54-year-old had raised some serious doubts when he hinted at a probable move to Paris Saint Germain. However, the gaffer claimed last night that he feels content at Old Trafford.

With his current achievements, the managerial figure might as well get the pay raise he wishes, along with a contract extension, as the high officials are craving for the club’s success, for which the Portuguese has proven his worth.
