Turkish League champions Besiktas are eyeing a move for United’s star midfielder Marouane Fellaini next summer.

The Belgium international is in his final year at Manchester, after the club triggered a one-year extension last season.

Earlier, reports had stated that several Turkish clubs are keen to offer huge money to land Fellaini, and Besiktas have now joined the race besides their local rivals.

The midfielder recently rejected a new offer from the Mancunian club, and is seeking a bumper deal to stay at the club.

Besiktas are currently flying high in the Champions League, and lead the proceedings in Group H with 10 points from four matches. The Turkish giants lie third in their domestic campaign, and will hope to finish atop by end of the season to lure in big players and show their ambition.

According to recent Turkish reports, Besiktas have confirmed their interest in the Manchester United star. Metin Albayrak, a member of Besiktas’ executive board, recently revealed: “Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him.”

Metin also went on to add that the former Everton midfielder isn’t the only one on their radar, as they are keeping tabs on several other players.

He added: “He is not the only player we scouted, our scouting team watched 20 games live this week. Transfer plans never end, we are always working. We are keeping tabs on several players.”

Fellaini is a key asset for United manager Jose Mourinho, and the player has shown his importance time and again under the Portuguese. He was brought to Old Trafford by former boss David Moyes back in 2013, and had initially agreed to a four-year deal after joining from Everton, with an extension clause in his contract.

Jose has been vocal on how vital Fellaini is for him, and earlier stated that the Belgian will be going nowhere. The central midfielder has been a happy player in the United ranks, and is looking for a valuable contract that will make him feel important. It is understood that the Red Devils will return soon with a new offer.
