BIG NEWS: Arsenal Agree To Sell Mesut Ozil In January On One Condition
Arsenal have reportedly made up their mind to acquire money by selling Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window. The Gunners are set to demand a fee of £30m for the playmaker.
Man Utd are one of the teams that have been monitoring the German’s situation for a while. Jose Mourinho, being an admirer that shares a strong bond with the midfielder, is keen on procuring the 29-year-old’s signature.
The Portuguese tactician can then, if a transfer were to materialise, implement Ozil’s talents into the squad, fortifying the team’s overall offensive power, like he did during their time together at Real Madrid.
The playmaker’s fellow teammate, Alexis Sanchez, is also set to be out of contract by the summer. If Man City were to revive their interest in the Chile international, the Gunners have decided to demand a similar fee for the forward, weighing around £30m.
However, according to Daily Star, Arsene Wenger would much rather prefer a swap deal involving Sanchez and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler, instead of witnessing another one of his prime assets leave the Emirates for the Etihad.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal right-back Lee Dixon has criticised the star duo’s behaviour, by claiming that neither Ozil nor Sanchez would have lasted long at the club during his day. The instrumental figure proclaimed: “We’d have just shown them the door. If you don’t want to play, then go. That’s not changed.
“If a player doesn’t want to stay somewhere then you will be ousted from the environment and dressing room pretty quickly. players work out whether you want to be there or not, and certainly fans do when they see your performances on the pitch.”
